appearance
OVERALL- Izzy has light blonde hair, long and typically kept in a long ponytail while keeping her bangs on both sides of her face. She could be called "petite" despite being somewhat taller than the average girl her age in Japan, due to her body shape. More than anything she stands out due to her ethnicity, with Westerners being rather uncommon in Japan, which particularly stands out in the relatively small town of Inaba.
UNIFORM STYLE- Izzy tends to use the shorter sleeved version of the Yasogami High uniform, but otherwise makes no noteworthy alterations.
CASUAL STYLE: Izzy's summer outfit tends to be a simple white tank top and a black skirt, occasionally opting to wear a thin black jacket over her tank top on windy days, with a pair of black or brown boots on her feet. She also has a few plain earrings she chooses to wear sometimes, either studs or hooped.
Her winter outfit typically consists of a white long-sleeved top with black or brown trousers, typically with a thin black jacket or a thicker brown jacket over her top, combined with the same black or brown boots she wears in the summer. On particularly cold days she has a long white coat, a size or two too big for her, to go over her standard clothes when outside. Normally she doesn't wear her earrings during the winter, as they can be too cold on her ear.
personality
NATURE: Confused.
OVERALL: Having spent most of her life in another country on nearly the other side of the world, Izzy has a hard time fitting in with the rest of her classmates. Culture shock combined with her difficulty learning the language interferes heavily with her ability to interact, particularly because it often takes a moment or two to process what people are saying to her. She's been mistaken for being rude at times because of it, or even thought of as an idiot, and she doesn't really have many points of contact or similar interests to her classmates.
It probably doesn't help that Izzy had a reputation for being a bit scatter-brained even before her moving to Japan. Her train of thought can jump from one thing to something completely unrelated, then back again, which makes her hard to follow even for people who speak English. She's also a bit forgetful sometimes, with a tendency to forget what she was doing in the middle of doing it and to put things down then immediately lose them.
She can also be a bit panic-y when things go wrong, making a big deal over little things and being unable to get herself to calm down and properly deal with her problems. Her panicked state usually just makes things worse, causing her to make more mistakes as she hurriedly tries fixing things to create a spiral of making it worse until she finally calms herself down somehow. This can take some time.
Curiously she seems to handle things better when others are relying on her. She doesn't like seeing other people be in trouble because of her mistakes, but instead of it stressing her out further it has the opposite effect. Knowing that things don't just affect her alone appears to keep her focused and calm in a way she usually just isn't.
Her interests primarily lie in literature, and she spends a lot of her free time reading books that she either brought with her to Japan in the first place or imported. Reading tends to remind her of living back "home", which was generally a happier and more comfortable time for her. A time during which, while she could've have been called 'popular', she wasn't as lonely as she is now.
As she is, Izzy feels unsure as to her place in Inaba. She would like to, on some level, 'fit in' with others, but she's also afraid that in doing so she'll lose a lot of what she's really like. She wants to have proper friends, but she's scared that the only way she can do that is by not being herself any more. She's always been told to 'be yourself', but that doesn't seem to be working at all for her anymore. It's a difficult, uncomfortable position for her, and she isn't sure of what she wants to do.
TRAITS:
+ Creative: Izzy has a fairly good imagination, and can come up with good ideas when given the right drive. Ideas that others might not have considered otherwise.
+ Reliable: When others are depending on her, Izzy comes into her own and handles things with greater ease. It's like she draws personal strength from knowing that her actions don't just effect her.
+ Humble: Izzy rarely over-estimates herself, nor does she let success go to her head. She doesn't like to brag about any success either, the very idea making her uncomfortable.
+ Open-minded: Hardly the judgemental sort, Izzy is open to things that others might be put off by. She hardly thinks she's in the position to make any kind of judgement on anyone else.
+ Loyal: To those who have earned her friendship, Izzy is eternally grateful. The very idea of being cruel to or going behind the back of a friend appals her.
- Scatter-Brained: Izzy doesn't think in 'straight lines', more like a line that zig-zags and twirls all over the place. It makes her hard to follow her train of thought, even for those familiar to her, and she tends to be disorderly in most things.
- Forgetful: She tends to forget things. Not usually huge, important things, but lots of little things that can lead to larger problems.
- Panicky: In only takes one thing to go wrong, and suddenly everything spirals out of control for Izzy due to stress causing her to make mistakes. It does her no favours.
- Communication: Izzy... Isn't as fluent in Japanese as someone living in Japan might want to be. She may be able to understand most things given a few moments, but this still severely effects her everyday life.
- Insecure: She doesn't handle blows to her confidence very well, whether they be from failures or from insults. It can ruin her mood instantly, and she rarely stands up for herself when bullied at all.

history
FAMILY: Jonathan Westley, Father. Rose Westley, Mother.
FRIENDS: None currently in Japan.
OCCUPATION: None.
CLUB: None.
BIO: Izzy was born in England, the only child to her parents, and grew up in a seaside town. Her early life was... Normal. She went to an average Primary School, had a fair amount of friends, had her own personal interest in books and the like. Her parents worked closely together and occasionally had to be away due to the demands of their work, but Izzy was never particularly bothered by it. She was never left alone, and never felt like her parents were neglecting her.
However, troubles began when her parent's job required them to move to Japan in order to represent the company's interests in the country. Izzy, twelve at the time, didn't want to move, but ultimately had no choice. She said goodbye to her friends, who were themselves moving on to Secondary School, and left for Japan. She didn't know the language at all at the time, expected to learn it when in the country.
For the first couple of years she was isolated, heavily struggling with learning the language to the point where she had to be home tutored. Occasionally she managed to contact her old friends over the internet, but the differences in time zones made it difficult and in time she drifted from them almost entirely. It was lonely, and her parents noticed how badly it was effecting her. Under the advice of her Japanese tutor, telling them that more interactions speaking the language would help her, they enrolled her into Middle School.
It was an uncomfortable experience for Izzy. People kept staring at her, and she felt like an idiot every time she had to speak. She never felt like she fit in, as much as she tried, and while her classmates rarely were explicitly mean to her they could hardly be called kind. She hid her issues as much as she could from her parents, not wanting to make them worry any more than they already did. There was no point making them suffer too when there was nothing they could really do.
When Middle School ended, she moved on to Yasogami High expecting it to be no different. After all, what could really change?
